The sun is peeking through the clouds.
Flowers are blooming.
Birds are chirping.
The next season of produce is hitting the produce section and Farmer’s Market stands.
Yes, my friends. Spring is here, and it’s finally starting to act like it!
When there is this many signs of warmer weather, my mouth starts to water, and my mind starts to wander. A little daydream, anyone? It’s still a little chilly out in coastal Washington, but my my how excited I am to embrace this season’s bounty! I’ll take all the sunny days I can get. Heck, I’ll take sunshine in all forms! Sunshine in a glass pairs exceptionally well with the recent forecasts, doesn’t it?
Nothing quite jazzes me up the way a fresh juice does. Suddenly, Spring Cleaning is that much more enjoyable with a tall glass of zingy citrus and carrot goodness.
Sure, you could opt for your favorite store bought juice, just like your mama used to do. Heaven knows she needed that extra time to take care of other important tasks. But no, not you, not today! You’re willing to spend a small portion of your day creating something extra special. Because it’s Spring after all, and ’tis the season of new + fresh.
Come one now, it’s time to dust off your juicer and get, well, juicing!
Here is what you’ll need to make two 16 oz. mason jars worth of juice:
- 1 lb of carrots
- 2 oranges
- 2 clementines
- half a lemon
- 1 thumb sized piece of ginger (or more, if you like it spicy 😉 )
Every juicer is a little different, so adjust your fruit + veggie prep accordingly. I have a masticating juicer, so I usually cube up my ingredients. However, these ingredients are pretty low-maintenance and can go right in as is. Think slender carrots and squishy citrus. Oh, and I always like to top off my juices with ice. So refreshing!
Tada! That’s it. Now you have two portions of juice. You can save one for later or share with a friend! #bestie
